超级动画大片《Talking Head》上映两个月前，监督丸轮零突然失踪，而影片还未制作完成。制作公司"八百马力"的老板无奈只得请来"我"作为替补监督，他要求"我"实现丸轮零的梦想，替他开创他的新领域，一边否定丸轮零的风格，一边将不可置疑是他之手笔的作品给捏造出来。为达成这一目的，"我"对剧组的每一个成员都进行了接触和了解，而在这过程中，剧组成员却一个接一个地离奇身亡。究竟谁是凶手？"我"能够克服重重困难将影片完成吗？
《Talking Head》是关于影像知性的一场狂欢。当时，押井守几乎是从头开始学习电影，自影像制作、阐释等理论从本质上追溯电影。日后，《Patlabor2》震撼世人，此为表；layout系统及其方法论，此为里；而表里之间的混沌夹杂着押井守的思考、洞见、质疑和一丝迷茫，这就是《Talking Head》，是押井守其电影理论认知的一次井喷，因此也丝毫不难在其绝大多数作品中找到《Talking Head》所指涉内容的影子。
可惜，受限于翻译问题，一直对《Talking Head》的认识局限于"夹杂动画画面的实拍戏剧"，"押井守的实拍黑暗版白箱"等，而这些内容在整部影片中所占篇幅显然是极少的，本次对本作进行精译，既有益于知晓押井守发展其layout系统时的心路历程，亦可用作其作者论研究的重要结点。希望各位爱好者能够体会本作带来的乐趣。
